A Mad Genius in 'Pokémon Pokopia' Just Drained an Entire Ocean to Build a Fortress

Most Pokémon Pokopia players are content with cobbling together humble, slightly mismatched settlements. But while the average gamer is busy patching potholes, one incredibly dedicated—and slightly terrifying—architect is orchestrating a man-made apocalypse by completely draining the ocean.

The madness was first brought to light on Reddit, where user u/Mindycane showcased a barren, waterless void where the bustling waters of Bleak Beach once flowed. Until now, many players assumed the game's bodies of water were infinite. While it's a known mechanic that Ditto can absorb water, conventional wisdom dictated that a massive ocean would simply refill itself. Mindycane proved that theory wrong, single-handedly slurping up the sea in a painstaking process that took roughly six hours.

When asked what possessed them to commit such a drastic act of ecological devastation, the player offered a simple explanation: they are building an "underwater citadel," and the existing ocean was simply in the way. They casually promised to "put it back later."

This isn't Mindycane's first foray into mega-architecture. The player has already gained notoriety for constructing a colossal, above-ground fortress in the Withering Wasteland. However, their ambitions in Bleak Beach have escalated far beyond simple water removal.

In a follow-up post, the community discovered that Mindycane hadn't just removed the water—they excavated nearly all of the land, too. After 25 total hours of relentless terraforming, the only remnants of the original beach are the game's unbreakable bedrock and a few floating platforms supporting essential, unmovable landmarks like the S.S. Anne, the area gate, and Mosslax's shrine.

If draining the sea wasn't ominous enough, the player's future plans are downright alarming. Responding to jokes that they were exacerbating the game's existing apocalyptic lore, Mindycane teased even darker designs for the Rocky Ridge zone, hinting at importing a "lava ocean."

More concerning still is the mysterious fate of their Pokémon companions. When fellow players inquired about the whereabouts of their team during this grueling 25-hour excavation, Mindycane simply replied with a devil emoji and a cryptic, "Oh I wouldn't worry too much about them."

Whether they are a visionary builder or a digital supervillain in the making, Mindycane's dedication to reshaping the world of Pokopia is undeniably awe-inspiring. We just hope the residents of Bleak Beach—and the missing Pokémon—are surviving the renovation.
