What was supposed to be a friendly exhibition match in Los Angeles took a violent turn Sunday afternoon when fans of rival Mexican soccer clubs clashed in a massive brawl at BMO Stadium.
The chaos erupted during the highly anticipated Clásico Tapatío, a historic Liga MX rivalry between Chivas de Guadalajara and Atlas F.C. While the players battled it out on the pitch, spectators created their own fight club in the concourse.
Video footage circulating on social media captured the intense scene near a stadium beer vendor. Security personnel struggled to contain the melee as fans traded vicious haymakers. In one particularly brutal moment, a man on the ground was repeatedly struck in the back of the head before security finally intervened, allowing him to crawl to safety.
Additional overhead angles showed widespread fighting across the concourse level, with stadium staff working desperately to form a human barrier between the furious factions. Despite the sheer scale of the disruption, the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters they currently have no records of arrests related to the incident.
As for the actual game, Chivas managed to secure a 1-0 victory over Atlas, concluding a match that proved to be anything but friendly both on and off the field.
