Brady Ebert, a founding member and former guitarist of the Baltimore hardcore powerhouse Turnstile, has been arrested in Maryland on charges of attempted second-degree murder.
According to arrest records from Montgomery County, the 33-year-old Silver Spring resident was taken into custody on March 31. Ebert appeared in court for his initial hearing on April 1 and is currently being held without bond.
Representatives for Turnstile have not yet issued a public statement regarding the arrest. Ebert helped form the highly successful punk outfit in 2010 but abruptly parted ways with the group in 2022. At the time of his departure, the split lacked public explanation, with the band simply expressing that they were "deeply grateful" for their years together.
However, the guitarist's recent actions have been marred by escalating public controversy. In 2025, Ebert formed a new music project called The S.E.T. (The Self Evident Truth). His tenure in the new group was short-lived; he was unceremoniously kicked out last month just days before the scheduled March 6 release of their debut EP.
Ebert's dismissal from The S.E.T. followed a string of public attacks he made against his former Turnstile bandmates. He alleged that Turnstile had misappropriated funds from a benefit concert and heavily criticized the band's political stances, claiming they were "pandering" to fans by sharing graphics advocating for the abolition of ICE.
In response to his outbursts, The S.E.T. released a statement officially severing ties, declaring they would "not stand by his ridiculous comments and behaviour toward the members of our band and our community."
