Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline has expressed support for the singer's decision to seek treatment, following her recent arrest for driving under the influence. Federline, who shares two sons with Spears, is reportedly "happy that she is getting help."
According to his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline is aware of the reports that Spears voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation facility. "If she needs help, he is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others," Kaplan stated in an interview with TMZ. He emphasized the importance of Spears following through with her treatment plan, adding, "The key is that whatever the recommended treatment plan is that she follows it and completes it."
Spears' decision to enter treatment comes one month after her DUI arrest in California. Following the incident, her representative described it as "an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable" and indicated that Spears would take steps to comply with the law. The representative also noted that her loved ones, including her children, were working on a plan to support her well-being.
"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law," the spokesperson said, "and hopefully this can be the first step in long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life."
Support for Spears extends beyond Federline. Her other ex-husband, Sam Asghari, has also wished her success in her recovery, stating, "We have not spoken to each other, but I wish her the most success and recovery. I think privacy is the most important thing when it comes to that."
Former assistant Sean Phillip echoed this sentiment, describing Spears as "one of the most strong women that I've ever met. She just keeps on going." As Spears focuses on her health journey, those close to her continue to express hope for her recovery and well-being.
