Philippine Women's University Celebrates 107 Years with Nostalgic 1970s-Themed Alumni Homecoming

The Philippine Women's University (PWU) commemorated its 107th anniversary alongside its 97th Grand Alumni Homecoming with a vibrant 1970s flower power celebration at The Manila Hotel. The event, organized by the Philippine Women's University Alumni Association (PWUAA), transformed the historic venue into a dazzling fusion of nostalgia, elegance, and philanthropy.

Attendees hailed the evening as one of the association's finest gatherings, where jubilarians added sparkle to the festivities and raffle prizes maintained high excitement. The spotlight shone on 80-year-old Daisy Negado Jocson, crowned Star of the Night for her timeless grace and charm.

The program was noted for its refined efficiency, featuring three concise yet inspiring five-minute speeches from PWUAA President Virgie Gomez Monton, keynote speaker Cory Quirino, and PWU President Marco Moya Benitez. This format balanced inspiration with elegance, keeping the evening both meaningful and engaging.

A cultural highlight emerged as the renowned Bayanihan National Dance Company, led by Executive Director Marielle Moya Benitez, captivated the audience. Monton, a former Bayanihan member affectionately known as the "Tiger Lady of Fashion," performed as the Singkil princess at 67, drawing enthusiastic applause for her grace, poise, and agility between bamboo poles.

Adding purpose to the glamour, distinguished alumna Teruko Haga donated her celebrated Golden Fish Collection to the evening's silent auction. Winning bidder Mayette Fabris ensured all proceeds would benefit PWUAA scholars, marking an inspiring gesture of generosity and commitment to future generations.
