World number one Judd Trump has booked his ticket to the Tour Championship semi-finals following a nail-biting 10-9 victory over Shaun Murphy in Manchester.

The tense encounter went down to the wire, concluding in a dramatic final-frame decider. Murphy started the match strong, claiming the opening two frames with solid breaks of 72 and 59. However, Trump quickly found his rhythm, leveling the score at 2-2, capped by a spectacular 140 clearance.

The rest of the first session remained tightly contested. Despite Murphy firing in impressive breaks of 132 and 71, the session finished deadlocked at 4-4 after Trump managed to steal a scrappy eighth frame marred by late errors from his opponent.

Reflecting on the match, Trump admitted to feeling the pressure despite an improved performance following the interval.

"There were times in the match where I thought it was getting away from me," Trump confessed.

Trailing 8-7 later in the match, Trump was handed a lifeline when Murphy missed a crucial black. The world number one punished the mistake with a clinical 90 clearance, following it up with a masterful 137 to seize the lead after Murphy fluffed an early red. Refusing to back down, Murphy delivered a clutch break of 96 in the 18th frame to force the ultimate decider.

In a tense 19th frame, Trump stumbled with early errors but ultimately capitalized on Murphy's inability to punish the mistakes, securing his spot in Friday's semi-finals.

"In my most successful seasons I have won nearly all of my deciding frames and that can give you a lifeline in tournaments," Trump reflected. "I have been consistent this season but it could have been a lot better. It's difficult when you keep going back to your hotel room after a tough loss so it's nice to get one finally."

Elsewhere in the tournament, Wednesday's quarter-final action saw Australia's Neil Robertson build a 5-3 advantage over Barry Hawkins, while England's Chris Wakelin trails Zhao Xintong 5-3. Both of those matches will conclude on Thursday, alongside a highly anticipated clash between Mark Selby and Scotland's John Higgins for a semi-final berth.
