Wolf Alice Wraps Up 2026 Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts With Tearful, Rarities-Packed Finale

London's iconic Royal Albert Hall witnessed a deeply moving conclusion to the 2026 Teenage Cancer Trust concert series as Wolf Alice took the stage for an unforgettable finale. The celebrated indie rockers treated fans to a unique setlist brimming with live debuts, unreleased tracks, and long-lost rarities.

This year's week-long philanthropic concert series was curated by The Cure's legendary frontman, Robert Smith. The initiative raises crucial funds for young people battling cancer, building on a record-breaking £2.05 million raised the previous year.

Before Wolf Alice took the spotlight, the evening was grounded in the true purpose of the event. Following an opening set by Nilüfer Yanya, a group of young cancer survivors supported by the charity appeared on stage. Among them was Verity Barker, who was diagnosed with a rare, incurable cancer at age 17 and initially given only weeks to live. The resilient survivor celebrated her "golden birthday"—turning 26 on March 26—with the entire venue serenading her with a heartfelt rendition of "Happy Birthday."

The emotional weight of the evening carried directly into Wolf Alice's performance. The band immediately surprised the crowd by opening with "Heavenward," marking the first time the Visions Of A Life track had been played live since 2020. Later, violinist James Gavin joined the group for a haunting rendition of "Midnight Song."

Addressing the audience, frontwoman Ellie Rowsell acknowledged the show's unique structure: "We wanted to try something a bit different tonight, so I hope you will be patient with us."

The gravity and beauty of the night clearly impacted the band. Bassist Theo Ellis candidly admitted to the crowd how close he was to shedding tears during the performance. "It must be this gaff," he joked, gesturing to the historic venue. "It's very nice."

Wolf Alice's poignant set served as the perfect capstone to a star-studded week of music. Smith's curated lineup featured heavy-hitting performances from Elbow, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, and Placebo. In a nod to the curator, acts like Manic Street Preachers and Garbage delivered special covers of The Cure's classics, while Chvrches used their slot to debut a brand-new track.
