Seventeen individuals were arrested in Caloocan City for allegedly engaging in illegal refilling and rebranding of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). The suspects were caught repacking LPG under well-known brands without authorization, a practice that poses serious safety risks to consumers.
The operation, conducted by authorities, targeted illegal LPG activities that involve using substandard cylinders and unauthorized refilling, which can lead to leaks, explosions, and fires. The NCRPO warned the public to only purchase LPG from authorized dealers and report any suspicious refilling stations.
The arrested individuals face charges for violating Republic Act 9292, the LPG Industry Regulation Act, and related laws. The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and hold accountable those who endanger lives through illegal practices.
