The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has suspended two Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairs in Makati City amid allegations of graft and forgery. The suspensions were announced following a formal complaint that accused the officials of misusing funds and falsifying documents.
According to DILG officials, the case involves the misuse of SK funds for unauthorized purposes, with fabricated receipts and signatures used to cover up the transactions. The two SK chairs have been ordered to step down pending the outcome of a full investigation. They face potential administrative and criminal charges if found guilty.
The DILG emphasized that it is committed to holding local officials accountable, especially those in youth councils, to uphold transparency and good governance. “We will not tolerate any form of corruption, especially among those entrusted to serve our youth,” a DILG spokesperson stated.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspended officials have been given the opportunity to present their defense.
