50 Cent Sued by Former Employee Alleging Retaliation and Coercion

Rapper 50 Cent is facing a lawsuit from a former senior employee who claims she was fired and harassed after refusing to participate in illegal activities on his behalf.

Monique Mayers, who worked for 50 Cent for 12 years in high-level operational roles across his business ventures, alleges she was terminated when she declined his requests to hide assets during his bankruptcy proceedings and to file a false police report against his driver for theft of a car and $600,000 in cash.

The lawsuit, filed by attorney Bennitta Joseph in Los Angeles, states that after her refusal, 50 Cent retaliated by firing her, pressuring Forbes to retract a feature story about her, and launching a prolonged campaign of intimidation via texts, calls, and threats. Mayers claims the harassment has continued unabated.

She is suing for intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy, seeking monetary damages and an injunction to prevent further intimidation.

50 Cent's attorney, Reena Jain, categorically denied the allegations, calling Mayers a "disgruntled former employee who was terminated for cause over five years ago." The attorney added that the lawsuit is a "transparent attempt" to seek an "unjustified payday" outside the statute of limitations. She further stated that 50 Cent's legal team encouraged Mayers to report any threats to authorities and proactively reported the allegations to law enforcement for investigation.
