Grant argues that this well-known maxim is not helpful for resolving conflicts. Instead, he suggests that taking a break to cool down before discussing difficult issues can lead to better outcomes.
"Go to bed angry, wake up with perspective," Grant advises. He emphasizes the importance of giving yourself time to reflect and approach conversations with a clearer mindset rather than forcing a resolution when emotions are running high.
