Chung Sae-kyun, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced the recruitment of former AI chief Ha Jeong-woo after what he described as efforts that went beyond the traditional 'three visits' to 'thirty visits.' Ha, who served as the party's first AI policy chief, will now run in the upcoming by-election for Busan's Buk-gu Gap district.

"We are thrilled to bring Ha Jeong-woo on board after an extensive courtship," Chung said in a statement. "His expertise in AI policy will be invaluable as we prepare for the next phase of digital governance."

Ha confirmed his candidacy, stating, "I have completed my role as AI chief and am ready to serve the people of Busan Buk-gu Gap. I will focus on leveraging technology to create jobs and improve public services."

The by-election is seen as a key test for the Democratic Party amid shifting political dynamics in the region.
