Alex Marquez Dominates Spanish MotoGP, Ends Bezzecchi's Winning Run

Alex Marquez claimed a commanding victory at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday, bringing an end to Marco Bezzecchi's impressive winning streak in MotoGP.

The Ducati-Gresini rider, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Thursday, secured his second career win at the Jerez circuit—the same venue where he earned his first victory last year. Starting from fifth on the grid, Marquez charged to the front, finishing 1.903 seconds ahead of Aprilia's Bezzecchi.

Unlike Saturday's rain-soaked sprint race—won by Alex's older brother Marc Marquez after a dramatic tyre change—Sunday's main event was comparatively straightforward. Marc started from pole position but lost the lead to Alex on lap two, then crashed out five turns later.

Alex Marquez then pulled away from Bezzecchi, with Fabio di Giannantonio completing the podium and Jorge Martin taking fourth. Bezzecchi had won the previous five races stretching back to last season, including the opening three rounds of 2025.

Despite ending his winless run, Bezzecchi extended his championship lead to 11 points over Martin. Di Giannantonio moved up to third, while Marc Marquez dropped to fifth, 44 points behind the leader. Alex Marquez now sits seventh overall, his best result so far this year.

"We struggled at the start of the season," Alex said. "Today, the plan was clear—push from the first lap and try to take the lead. Once I did, I knew the rhythm was good enough to hold on until the end."
