Amanda Bynes Drops Genre-Bending Single 'Girlfriend' After Four-Year Hiatus

Amanda Bynes is making a bold return to the music scene with her latest single "Girlfriend," set to release on April 10. The track marks her first musical release in four years and will be available on major streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify.

In an exclusive interview, the former actress revealed the eclectic influences behind her new song. "My inspiration was a lot of EDM," Bynes shared, "as well as rap." The 40-year-old artist is blending these genres with the help of Los Angeles-based rapper Fenix Flexin, creating what she described as "straight fire" in a recent social media post.

Her label, Create Music Group, elaborated on the track's unique sound in a statement: "The song blends melodic rap with EDM-inspired production, creating a catchy, high-replay record with a smooth West Coast bounce. Built around a strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy, it's designed for repeat listens and wide playlist appeal."

This isn't Bynes' first venture into music. She initially entered the rap scene in 2021 with the 58-second track "Diamonds," recorded with her then-fiancé Paul Michael. The duo later released an extended version of that song along with another single titled "Fairfax" in 2022.

Bynes' creative pursuits have expanded significantly since her graduation from Los Angeles' Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019. Beyond music, she launched a podcast with Paul Sieminski in 2023 and has explored visual arts through gallery shows and clothing pop-ups. She also joined OnlyFans last year, though she clarified she "won't be posting any sleazy content."

As fans await the April 10 release of "Girlfriend," Bynes continues to evolve as a multi-faceted creative force, blending her acting background with new artistic directions in music and beyond.
