In the final days before the Met Gala 2026, Anna Wintour—the Vogue Global Editorial Director who has orchestrated fashion's biggest night for over three decades—offered a rare glimpse into her meticulous last-minute preparations. In an exclusive interview with E! News at the King’s Trust Gala in New York on April 29, she summed up her current workload with a simple phrase: “a lot of seating charts.”
At 76, Wintour is not alone in the planning. The evening, themed “Costume Art,” boasts a powerhouse lineup of co-chairs including Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Beyoncé, who will make her grand return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art benefit after a ten-year absence.
Nicole Kidman, a familiar face on the Met steps, is stepping into the co-chair role for the third time—previously she hosted in 2003 and 2005. During an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast last month, Kidman expressed her joy at serving again, noting that her 17-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose, will accompany her as her date. Sunday, who has recently launched a modeling career, “loves fashion,” her mother said.
The event has also enlisted Lauren Sánchez-Bezos and Jeff Bezos as official sponsors. Wintour praised the couple in a statement, calling them a “wonderful asset to the museum and the event.” Of Lauren specifically, she told CNN, “We’re very grateful for her incredible generosity, so we’re thrilled she’s part of the night.”
With invitations already dispatched, the hardest part is over for Wintour. As she revealed on Good Morning America last year, she has no say in what guests wear but often receives calls seeking advice. “Many call and ask our advice,” she said, “so we try and help some of them as best we can. Some, no idea.”
