Anthony Kiedis' girlfriend Eileen Kelly is speaking out about their 33-year age difference, defending their relationship against public scrutiny. In a candid essay for Vogue titled "My Boyfriend Is Double My Age," the 30-year-old sex educator shared her perspective on dating the 63-year-old Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman.
Kelly wrote that dating an older man has its perks: "He’s simply had more time to get his s--t together, and my much older boyfriend seems genuinely excited to be with me—not like he’s biding his time before he can swipe for someone better. He is fully aware that he’s one lucky bastard."
The couple met at a birthday party and bonded over a shared connection to a tiny Hawaiian town where Kiedis owns a home. Kelly noted that while age-gap relationships often attract judgment—with older men labeled "creepy" and younger women assumed to have "daddy issues" or be gold-diggers—she and Kiedis have a healthy dynamic.
"I have my own money, my own career, and I have my own home," she wrote. "I love my boyfriend, but I’m not at risk of losing everything if we break up."
Despite unsolicited comments from strangers—including being asked if Kiedis is her father—Kelly remains unfazed. "The reality is comparatively unremarkable," she concluded. "From the inside, we’re mostly just two people doing the ongoing, unremarkable work of moving through life together."
