Anthropic is currently reviewing investor offers for a new funding round that would value the AI company at over $900 billion, according to Bloomberg. If finalized, this would make Anthropic the world's most valuable AI startup, surpassing rival OpenAI.
The talks are in very early stages, and no offer has been accepted yet. Anthropic previously turned down multiple offers at valuations of $800 billion or higher, apparently holding out for a better deal.
Google recently committed $10 billion to Anthropic at the older $350 billion valuation from a February round. An additional $30 billion could follow if Anthropic meets certain performance targets. Amazon is also investing $5 billion at that same valuation, with plans for another $20 billion. It remains unclear whether either tech giant will participate in the new round.
Additionally, Anthropic is considering an initial public offering (IPO) starting in October. OpenAI was last valued at $852 billion but is reportedly struggling with missed revenue and growth targets.
