Antonelli Dominates Miami Grand Prix to Extend Championship Lead

Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli held off a relentless challenge from McLaren's Lando Norris to win the Miami Grand Prix, marking his third consecutive victory and extending his championship lead to 20 points over teammate George Russell.

The 19-year-old Italian, who started from pole position, fended off early pressure from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Norris before settling into a tense duel with the McLaren driver. Despite a poor start that saw him lose positions, Antonelli regained control and showcased his trademark composure.

"This is just the beginning. The road is still long. We are working super hard and the team is doing an incredible job," Antonelli said after the race.

Oscar Piastri finished third for McLaren, while Russell came home fourth. Red Bull's Max Verstappen recovered from a first-lap spin to finish fifth, but was handed a post-race five-second penalty for exiting the pits improperly—though it did not change his position. Leclerc dropped to eighth after a 20-second penalty for repeatedly leaving the track on the final lap following contact with a wall.

The rain that was forecast never fully materialized, with only a few drops mid-race, keeping the contest dry. Antonelli's win makes him the first driver to win from his first three pole positions, confirming his status as a rising star in Formula 1.
