Apple TV+ is looking to right a historic Hollywood wrong by developing a brand-new adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s iconic novel, The Bonfire of the Vanities. To ensure the project's success, the streaming giant has enlisted two of the industry's heaviest hitters: acclaimed producer David E. Kelley and visionary director Matt Reeves.

Kelley, the mastermind behind television hits like Big Little Lies, is attached to pen the script for the upcoming streaming series. He will be collaborating closely with Reeves, who recently captivated global audiences with his gritty blockbuster The Batman. Together, the duo aims to breathe new life into Wolfe's biting satirical masterpiece exploring ambition, class, and greed.

The upcoming Apple TV+ series marks a high-stakes attempt to redeem the property's on-screen reputation. The bestseller was famously adapted into a feature film in 1990 by director Brian De Palma. Despite boasting a star-studded cast that included Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, and Melanie Griffith, the cinematic venture became one of the most notorious box-office disasters in Hollywood history. Now, with the expanded canvas of a premium television format, Kelley and Reeves are poised to give the legendary book the adaptation it truly deserves.
