Apple is set to raise the prices for its AppleCare Plus service plan for Macs and iPads. The change will only affect new subscribers, with prices increasing by $0.50 per month or $5 per year.
According to reports, the price hike will see the cost of a plan for a new 13-inch MacBook Air rise to $7.99 from $7.49 per month, or to $79.99 from $74.99 annually.
The move is the latest in a series of price adjustments made by the company, following a similar increase last year. Existing subscribers will not be affected by the change, and will continue to pay the current rate for the service.
AppleCare Plus provides users with extended warranty coverage and support for their devices, including accidental damage protection and 24/7 technical support.
