Asus has announced a new version of its Xbox Ally X handheld gaming PC, featuring an OLED screen that many fans have been hoping for. However, the upgraded display will only be available as part of a limited special-edition bundle.
The bundle, called the Xbox Ally X20, includes the handheld device with a vibrant OLED panel, along with a pair of companion glasses that users must purchase to get the console. The glasses are designed to enhance the gaming experience, though details on their functionality remain sparse.
Senior Editor Sean Hollister of The Verge described the announcement as a dream come true, citing two major desired improvements: a larger, better screen and fixes to Windows. The OLED upgrade addresses the screen request, but the bundle requirement may disappoint some potential buyers who simply want the handheld alone.
Asus has not yet revealed pricing or a specific release date for the Xbox Ally X20 bundle, but it is expected to launch later this year. The move comes as competition in the handheld PC gaming market heats up, with devices like the Steam Deck and other ROG Ally models vying for attention.
