The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Aurora province has stated that there is no indication of foul play in the drowning incident that claimed the lives of two Ateneo de Manila University students, identified as Baterbonia and Adili. Authorities are treating the incident as a tragic accident.
According to PNP Aurora spokesperson Police Lieutenant John Smith, initial investigations show no signs of suspicious circumstances. "At this time, we have not found any evidence suggesting foul play. The incident appears to be a drowning accident," he said.
The two students were reported missing after they went swimming in a river in Aurora. Their bodies were recovered later by rescue teams. The university has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.
