AutoAdapt: Microsoft’s New Framework Makes LLMs Domain-Savvy Without the Headache

Microsoft Research has unveiled AutoAdapt, a framework that automates the process of fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) for specialized domains like healthcare, law, and tech support. The system uses an Adaptation Configuration Graph (ACG) to map the optimal training path, an intelligent Planning Agent to decide between retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and fine-tuning, and AutoRefine to optimize hyperparameters within budget constraints. This replaces the traditional trial-and-error approach with a repeatable, cost-efficient pipeline, enabling organizations to deploy domain-specific AI without weeks of manual effort.
