Amazon Web Services (AWS) and OpenAI have expanded their partnership, bringing three new OpenAI-powered features to Amazon Bedrock in a limited preview. The announcement highlights a growing integration between the two tech giants, offering customers access to advanced AI capabilities directly within AWS's managed AI service.

1. OpenAI Models on Bedrock Users can now access OpenAI's latest models—including GPT-5 and the o-series—through Amazon Bedrock. This enables developers to leverage these models alongside existing AWS AI services without managing separate infrastructure.

2. Codex on Bedrock OpenAI's coding agent, Codex, is now available on Bedrock. This feature allows developers to generate, review, and debug code using natural language prompts, streamlining software development workflows within AWS.

3. Bedrock Managed Agents Using OpenAI Models AWS introduces a new managed agent service called AgentCore Harness, which uses OpenAI models as the backbone. This provides a fully managed alternative to building custom AI agents with frameworks like LangChain or the Strada Agents SDK, though AWS notes that those frameworks remain the most powerful for fully customized workflows.

These features are currently in limited preview, and interested customers can request access via a dedicated OpenAI form. AWS also shared an updated list of agentic AI solutions available on the platform.

Tech With Dan, a YouTube channel focused on AWS and AI, covered the announcement in a recent video, noting the expanded partnership marks a significant step in making OpenAI's technology more accessible within enterprise cloud environments.
