Within a day of OpenAI and Microsoft revising their exclusivity agreement, Amazon announced that AWS customers can now access OpenAI's latest models, code-writing tool Codex, and a new agent-building service via Bedrock.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy called the revised deal a "very interesting announcement" on social media, hinting at the shift that allowed AWS to offer OpenAI products after OpenAI signed a multi-billion-dollar deal with Amazon earlier this year.
On Tuesday, Amazon launched Bedrock Managed Agents, a service tailored for OpenAI's reasoning models, featuring agent steering and security controls. The company promised "this is the beginning of a deeper collaboration between AWS and OpenAI."
The move reflects the evolving AI landscape, where Microsoft and OpenAI have been reportedly growing apart, each seeking new partners: OpenAI with AWS and Oracle, Microsoft with Anthropic and its own agent offerings based on Claude.
