BBC Shifts Radio 2 In The Park to September After Local Festival Backlash

The BBC has relocated its Radio 2 In The Park festival from August to September after facing complaints from other local events in Stirling. Originally scheduled for August 7–9, the free festival will now take place in September, with exact dates yet to be announced.

Organizers reached the decision in consultation with the Scottish Independent Festival Association (SIFA), responding to concerns about clashing with established local music events. According to BBC News, the move aims to minimize disruption to the area's existing festival calendar.

This will mark the first major BBC Music event in Scotland since Radio 1 Big Weekend was held in Dundee in 2023. Radio 2 In The Park left its longtime London home in Hyde Park in 2022, subsequently touring Chelmsford, Leicester, and Preston.

Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, stated: "Our aim has always been to bring a brilliant event to Stirling, providing value for Scottish audiences and making a positive impact on the local community."

The line-up for the 2026 edition has not been revealed.
