BI Arrests Chinese National Posing as Filipino in Zamboanga Sibugay

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Chinese national who was pretending to be a Filipino in Zamboanga Sibugay. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Liu Qing, was apprehended during a joint operation by BI operatives and local authorities in Ipil town on March 15.

Liu was found in possession of a falsified Philippine passport and other identification documents. BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the arrest followed a tip-off from concerned citizens. "This individual is a Chinese national who attempted to pass off as a Filipino by using fake documents. We will prosecute him for violating immigration laws," Tansingco stated.

Liu is currently detained at the BI facility in Bicutan, Taguig, awaiting deportation proceedings. The case highlights ongoing efforts to crack down on foreigners using fraudulent identities in the Philippines.
