The couple's coordinated looks drew attention, but it was Hudson's Instagram caption that stole the spotlight.
Hudson, 25, shared photos of their Derby day attire on Instagram, writing, "Not the first time we've trudged through the mud together." The remark was widely interpreted as a nod to the ongoing public scrutiny of her relationship with the 74-year-old football coach, whose age gap of nearly 50 years has been a frequent topic of criticism.
For the event, Hudson wore a blue and pink floral-print strapless midi dress, paired with a pink fascinator, heels, and a clutch. Belichick complemented her look with a pastel blue jacket, pink shirt and tie, and navy trousers. The following day, the couple switched to coordinated black outfits for the red carpet: Belichick in a black suit and Hudson in a gauzy one-shouldered black gown accented with leather belts.
This is not the first time Hudson has addressed critics. In January, she reshared a 2025 post that read in part, "Nothing changed for us in 2024 except for 'public knowledge'; yet, somehow everything changed." She added, "Keep swinging, Keyboard Warriors. Your illusion of righteousness only fuels my authenticity."
Belichick and Hudson first met in 2021 when he signed her copy of the textbook Deductive Logic. Since then, they have faced public jokes, including from Snoop Dogg at the 2025 NFL Honors, and engagement rumors sparked by a ring Hudson wore during Super Bowl weekend.
