Fans attending early screenings of Billie Eilish's new concert film are turning theaters into mosh pits, after the singer urged them to sing, scream, and dance as if at a live show.
Eilish's film, Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), co-directed by James Cameron, hits cinemas on May 8. At the London premiere, she outlined her ideal cinema etiquette: "I want singing along, I want screaming, I want standing up, I want running around. I'm sorry to the theatres," she told Capital.
Social media clips show fans gathering at the front of theaters, dancing and waving phone flashlights like at a gig. Eilish said she loves seeing that energy, recalling videos from album listening events where fans would mosh in the front area.
The film captures her tour in support of the acclaimed album Hit Me Hard and Soft, which she described as one of her favorite tours. Working with Cameron was "a dream come true."
While some cinema chains may not love the chaos, Eilish's fans are clearly taking her instructions to heart.
