Bournemouth Secures Marco Rose as New Manager for Premier League Ambitions

Marco Rose has agreed to become the next manager of AFC Bournemouth, signing a three-year contract that will see him take charge this summer following Andoni Iraola's departure.

The Cherries confirmed last week that current manager Andoni Iraola, 43, will not renew his contract at Vitality Stadium when the current season concludes. Rose emerged as the chosen candidate after Bournemouth considered several options, including Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and Rayo Vallecano's Inigo Perez.

Rose, 49, has been without a managerial position since his dismissal from RB Leipzig in March 2025 and will be experiencing English football for the first time in his career. The German coach brings significant European experience, having previously managed Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and RB Leipzig.

"Everyone at AFC Bournemouth looks forward to welcoming Marco to Vitality Stadium as he begins his role as head coach in the summer," the club stated. "The club's immediate focus remains firmly on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible, with the players and staff continuing to show full commitment to achieving positive results and building on the current 13-game unbeaten run."

During his tenure at RB Leipzig, Rose achieved notable success, winning 69 of his 124 matches in charge. His managerial accomplishments include two Austrian Bundesliga titles and the Austrian Cup with Red Bull Salzburg, plus the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup during his time with Leipzig.

Rose had also been considered for the Tottenham Hotspur managerial vacancy earlier this year following Thomas Frank's departure, highlighting his reputation within European football circles.

Bournemouth's appointment comes at a crucial time as the club prepares for what could be their fifth consecutive Premier League season, with potential European qualification within reach. The Cherries currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea, trailing only on goal difference following their recent victory at Newcastle.

When Rose assumes control, he will inherit a squad that has demonstrated resilience despite losing key defensive players before the season began. The club has developed a reputation for nurturing talent that attracts interest from Europe's elite clubs, a trend that may continue with Iraola's expected high demand in the summer transfer market.

Rose began his managerial career in 2012 with Lokomotive Leipzig and has steadily built a reputation for developing attacking football while achieving consistent results across multiple European leagues. His arrival signals Bournemouth's ambition to establish themselves as a stable Premier League presence while potentially competing in European competitions for the first time in the club's history.
