‘Brady Bunch’ Stars Christopher Knight and Eve Plumb Reveal Why Their Teen Romance Never Happened

Christopher Knight and Eve Plumb, who played siblings Peter and Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch, have opened up about their brief romantic connection—and why it never blossomed into a real relationship.

Knight, 68, told People that Plumb was always more mature and had a claim on him from early on, but he “wasn’t ready” to be claimed. He explained that his timing was off: just as he began to recognize her attention and consider reciprocating, the show ended in 1974.

“It was like getting a kiss on two different trains right as they separate,” Knight said, describing the missed connection. He added that while the possibility was sweet, it wasn’t destined, noting that exes rarely stay close—and he’s grateful they remained friends.

Plumb, also 68, previously told Page Six that their single date was “fun” but that by then they were “too good of friends to make that transition into being romantic partners.”

The pair have stayed in touch, and their 2019 reunion for A Very Brady Renovation brought all six original Brady kids together for the first time in about 15 years. Plumb told E! News at the time that while they’d seen each other in smaller groups, having the full six was special.

Fans of on-set romance can also look to Friends stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, who admitted during the reunion special that they had crushes on each other during the first season but never acted on them.
