Brian McKnight has taken legal action against his ex-wife and one of his sons, alleging they orchestrated a damaging smear campaign about his relationship with his late son, Niko.
In a lawsuit filed recently, the acclaimed singer claims his ex-wife, Julie McKnight, and son, Brian Jr., collaborated with bloggers Marc Lamont Hill and Tasha K, as well as the New York Post, to spread what he calls a "shockingly dishonest" and "sensational but false narrative." The core allegation centers on claims that McKnight abandoned his children and refused to tell his dying son he loved him.
McKnight asserts these statements are entirely fabricated and constitute "malicious character assassination" designed to profit from his reputation. The lawsuit further alleges that Tasha K made additional false claims online, accusing McKnight of being a cheater who had sex with a minor.
According to the legal documents, McKnight believes his reputation, career, and family have suffered significant harm due to these alleged lies. He describes the situation as a "relentless and persistent assault upon his character" that left him no alternative but to pursue legal recourse. He is seeking unspecified damages in the case.
