Broadway Scare: Megan Thee Stallion Hospitalized Mid-Performance for 'Extreme Exhaustion'

Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion experienced a terrifying medical emergency on Tuesday night, forcing her to halt her performance in Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical and seek immediate hospital care.

The 31-year-old superstar, who is currently starring as the eccentric master of ceremonies Harold Zidler, opened up to fans on social media on Wednesday about the frightening ordeal.

"I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn't," she wrote. "I've been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me."

According to her representatives, the "Savage" hitmaker was rushed to a New York hospital after suddenly feeling dangerously ill mid-show. Medical professionals diagnosed her with severe dehydration, extreme exhaustion, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels. She was promptly treated, released, and is currently resting.

Despite the health scare, the rapper assured her supporters that she won't be away from the spotlight for long. She plans to step back into her theatrical role as soon as Thursday.

"I'll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve," Megan stated, while her team expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and well-wishes from fans.

Born Megan Pete, the acclaimed musician made her highly anticipated transition from hip-hop arenas to the theatrical stage on March 24. She is slated to continue her limited run in the hit production until May 17. The iconic role of Zidler was originally brought to Broadway by Danny Burstein—who snagged a 2020 Tony Award for the performance—and was recently tackled by celebrity drag entertainer Bob the Drag Queen earlier this year.
