Bromley have secured a historic promotion to League One for the first time in the club's 134-year history, clinching their spot without even playing this weekend.
Their ascension was confirmed after Notts County suffered a 2-1 defeat to Barnet, mathematically eliminating the Magpies from catching the Ravens. With two games remaining in the League Two season, Andy Woodman's side is now guaranteed a top-three finish and a place in the third tier next season.
"This moment caps an incredible journey for the club," said a club spokesperson. "To achieve promotion without kicking a ball today shows just how consistent and dominant this team has been."
Bromley's path to promotion hit a minor bump last weekend with a loss at MK Dons, followed by a scoreless draw against Cambridge United on Thursday. However, their season-long excellence—topping the table since December—has now been rewarded.
The Ravens can still claim the League Two title if they win their final two matches against Salford City and Walsall. Achieving that would also make them just the second team in history to go an entire season unbeaten at home while winning the fourth-tier championship, matching Exeter City's feat from the 1989-90 campaign.
A Meteoric Rise Through the Ranks
This promotion marks the latest milestone in Bromley's remarkable ascent. As recently as 2015, the club was competing in National League South. They first entered the English Football League just two seasons ago after winning the National League promotion final via penalties against Solihull Moors. After an impressive 11th-place finish in their debut EFL season, they have now stormed to the top of League Two.
The team began this campaign with a seven-match unbeaten streak, climbing to third place by mid-September. A victory over Crawley Town in December propelled them to the summit of the table and sparked a 21-match unbeaten run that established their dominance.
Key to their success has been veteran striker Michael Cheek, who has netted 16 league goals this season despite missing recent matches due to injury. Since joining from Ebbsfleet United in 2019, Cheek has scored 130 league goals across 289 appearances in the National League and League Two.
Equally impressive has been Bromley's formidable home form at Hayes Lane, where they have remained undefeated all season, collecting 48 points from a possible 66.
Manager Andy Woodman's Masterstroke
At the helm of this historic achievement is manager Andy Woodman, who has now guided Bromley to two promotions in three seasons—from the National League to League One. The former goalkeeper has built a resilient, attacking side that has consistently outperformed expectations.
With promotion secured, Bromley now turns its attention to potentially claiming the League Two title and preparing for their inaugural season in League One—a testament to their sustained excellence and ambitious vision.
