Bryan Kohberger's Mother Insists He's an 'Angel' to FBI After Arrest for Idaho Murders

In a stunning revelation, Bryan Kohberger's mother reportedly told FBI agents that her son was an "angel" who could never commit the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students. According to transcripts obtained by the Daily Mail, Maryann Kohberger defended her son during an interview with three FBI agents following his 2022 arrest at the family home in Pennsylvania.

Kohberger pleaded guilty to stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin to death with a Ka-Bar knife as they slept. He was sentenced to life in prison after a plea deal spared him the death penalty.

During the FBI interview, Maryann Kohberger insisted authorities had the wrong man. "He's my angel," she said, adding she would stake her life on the claim that he could never commit such crimes. She described her son as confiding in her more than anyone else, often sharing "mother and son talks" while he attended college in Idaho.

Maryann also told agents she had encouraged Bryan to buy a knife for protection against bear attacks during hiking trips. It remains unclear if that conversation influenced his purchase of the Ka-Bar knife used in the killings.

Kohberger's mother and father, Michael, also have two daughters, Melissa and Amanda.
