Business and Civil Groups Urge Deeper Flood-Control Probe, Not Just Charges

A coalition of business and civil society organizations is calling for a more extensive investigation into the multibillion-peso flood-control scandal, arguing that simply filing charges against a few officials is insufficient.

In a joint statement, the groups emphasized that while charges have been brought against several high-profile individuals, many others implicated in the ongoing probe remain unaccounted for. They urged authorities to expedite investigations and ensure that all responsible parties face legal consequences.

The Senate is set to resume its flood-control inquiry, and the groups are pressing lawmakers to dig deeper rather than consider the case closed with the current charges.

"Rushing to file charges without fully exploring the network of corruption undermines justice," the statement read.

The appeal highlights growing frustration among stakeholders who believe the scandal demands a more thorough reckoning, especially given the scale of public funds involved.
