Casino Plus Foundation Pledges Over P3 Million to Aid Mindanao Earthquake Survivors

Casino Plus's corporate social responsibility arm, Color Your World Foundation, has allocated over P3 million in emergency assistance for communities devastated by the powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8.

In a statement released on Friday, the foundation announced the launch of "Project Bigkis," a disaster response program aimed at supporting relief efforts in the aftermath of the quake, which was centered off Sarangani.

The assistance will focus on General Santos City and Sarangani province, where affected families are still grappling with the disaster's aftermath. The relief package includes at least 150 livable tents, nearly 1,500 hygiene and medicine kits, more than 1,000 solar-powered lamps, and supplies of potable drinking water. These items will be distributed in coordination with government agencies and other partners.

"Our hearts are with our brothers and sisters in Mindanao during this devastating time," said Casino Plus CEO Evan Spytma. He emphasized the company's commitment to providing temporary shelter, essential supplies, and other immediate assistance as communities begin recovery efforts.

Beyond emergency relief, the foundation plans to undertake longer-term rehabilitation initiatives, including rebuilding classrooms damaged by the quake to restore safe learning spaces before the new school year. Additionally, livelihood programs will be rolled out to help affected communities recover economically.

Michael Angelo Horfilla, Casino Plus director for corporate social responsibility, noted that "Project Bigkis" aims to bring together resources and partners to assist affected families. The foundation will continue working with stakeholders, including the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, to sustain recovery and rehabilitation programs.
