Champions Hull KR Dominate Castleford with 50-6 Victory to Extend Winning Streak

Defending champions Hull KR put on a commanding performance at Craven Park, crushing Castleford Tigers 50-6 to secure their sixth consecutive win across all competitions. The victory lifted them to third place and cut the gap on league leaders Leeds to just two points.

After a slow start to their title defense, the Robins have rediscovered their championship form, winning every game in April. Despite coach Willie Peters announcing his departure at season's end to take over Papua New Guinea, the team showed no signs of distraction, racing to a 34-0 halftime lead.

Karl Lawton set the tone with two early tries, capitalizing on Castleford's defensive lapses. Tom Amone added a third after debutant Phoenix Laulu-Togaga'e lost possession near his own line. Tom Davies then finished off a slick passing move to score in the corner, putting the home side 24-0 ahead after 33 minutes.

The scoring continued as Elliot Minchella's grubber kick set up Dean Hadley, followed by Davies' acrobatic finish on the stroke of halftime. Mikey Lewis pounced on a loose ball early in the second half for the seventh try, and Joe Burgess added another before Davies completed his hat-trick with six minutes remaining.

Castleford, who conceded 50 points for the second consecutive week, finally got on the scoreboard in the final seconds when Laulu-Togaga'e kicked through for Krystian Mapapalangi to touch down.

"We had to earn it; the tries didn't come easy, and we built a lot of pressure," said Peters. "I am most pleased with defending our tryline for large periods of the second half. Overall, it's close to our best performance of the year."

The loss leaves Castleford languishing near the bottom of the Super League table, with coach Danny McGuire facing mounting pressure to turn around their fortunes.
