Charnley Double Powers Leigh to Comfortable Win Over Huddersfield

Josh Charnley scored two tries on his 400th career appearance to lead Leigh Leopards to a 30-16 victory over Huddersfield Giants, moving within five tries of Ryan Hall's Super League record.

Charnley's two second-half finishes took his Super League try tally to 263, helping Leigh secure their fourth win of the season. The home side led 20-10 at halftime thanks to tries from AJ Towse (2), Innes Senior, and a penalty try awarded to Lachlan Lam after a high tackle.

Leigh, who were bottom of the table two matches ago after a loss to Warrington, have now won two in a row and climbed to eighth. Huddersfield remain level on points with Toulouse at the foot of the standings.

Charnley struck twice in 11 minutes during the second half, effectively ending any hopes of a Giants comeback. Jacob Gagai scored a late consolation try for Huddersfield, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

The 34-year-old winger's first try was a one-handed finish near the right touchline, showcasing his skill, while his second was a powerful charge through Niall Evalds' defense. He nearly completed a hat-trick but failed to gather a pass with the line open.

Adrian Lam praised his team's performance, noting the impact of Charnley's milestone game. Leigh's recent resurgence includes three wins in their last four matches, building momentum after a slow start to the season.

For Huddersfield, Adam Swift scored his first Super League try of the year, and Taane Milne also crossed the line, but it wasn't enough to challenge Leigh's dominance.
