Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has expressed unwavering confidence in the club's ownership, stating he feels "100%" supported despite a challenging run of form that has jeopardized their Champions League aspirations.
Rosenior, who took over from Enzo Maresca in January, faces mounting pressure after a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United extended Chelsea's winless streak to four Premier League matches without scoring a goal. The loss leaves the Blues seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool, putting their season's primary objective—Champions League qualification—in serious doubt.
"100%," Rosenior affirmed when asked about the ownership's backing. "They've been supportive of me in our daily conversations, the sporting directors involved—they've been magnificent in their support of me and the team. We're relying on them. We know we need to win games of football in the now."
His comments follow public reassurance last week from influential co-owner Behdad Eghbali, who emphasized the hierarchy's long-term faith in Rosenior while acknowledging the immediate need for results. Eghbali also hinted at a strategic shift in the summer transfer window, suggesting Chelsea would target more experienced players to complement their youthful squad.
"He wants consistent trophies and consistent success for this club," Rosenior added regarding Eghbali's vision. "That's what we've spoken about—in the now, in the summer and how we build. We're all very clear on what we need to do, what we want to do and what we have to do to get this club back to where it should be."
Off-field tensions surfaced after the United defeat when defender Wesley Fofana appeared to snub assistant coach Justin Walker in a viral social media clip. Rosenior confirmed the player has since apologized, attributing the incident to frustration rather than deeper issues.
"I've spoken to him about it and he's just disappointed that we're losing the game," Rosenior explained. "I do think he could have shown that emotion in a better way and that's something I've spoken to him about, but the optics are not the reality. The reality is I've got a really good group. Wes apologized for his reaction, but these are young players who are going to make mistakes."
Ahead of Tuesday's crucial trip to Brighton, Chelsea's injury concerns mount. Winger Estevao Willian is ruled out with a hamstring injury, while striker Joao Pedro remains a doubt and will undergo a late fitness test. Defender Levi Colwill's availability is also uncertain as Rosenior seeks to rally his squad for a pivotal fixture in their faltering campaign.
