British heavyweight Derek Chisora appears poised to reverse his retirement plans, expressing strong interest in a rematch with Deontay Wilder following their recent bout.
Chisora, 42, had previously announced that his fight against Wilder last Saturday would mark the end of his professional career. However, after suffering a points defeat in a chaotic heavyweight clash, the veteran boxer is now reconsidering that decision.
Speaking to TalkSport ahead of Tyson Fury's return to the ring against Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Chisora voiced his frustration with the judges' scoring in his loss to Wilder.
"I'm very upset with the scoring," Chisora stated. "The two knockdowns that were given were pushes. It was an embarrassment. I'm not happy with that. The whole thing was a shambles, on my side and his side as well. I want to get the rematch."
The British fighter confirmed that his sole focus is securing another opportunity against Wilder, dismissing any other potential matchups. This marks a significant shift from his pre-fight retirement declaration, as Chisora hesitated to confirm his career conclusion immediately after the bout.
Last Saturday's contest represented the 50th professional fight for both boxers. For Chisora, it marked his 14th career defeat, while Wilder secured his 45th victory. The British heavyweight made his professional debut in February 2007 and suffered his first career loss to Tyson Fury in July 2011—a rival he would go on to face two more times.
Throughout his career, Chisora has established himself as a formidable presence in the heavyweight division, securing 23 knockouts and challenging for world titles on two occasions. He has shared the ring with boxing legends including Vitali Klitschko, David Haye, and Oleksandr Usyk.
Chisora's potential comeback was further hinted at during Fury's fight, where he wore a T-shirt bearing a strongly-worded slogan suggesting he had no intention of retiring. His presence at the event alongside other notable heavyweights like Moses Itauma and Anthony Joshua only fueled speculation about his future in the sport.
