Martin Lawrence is officially stepping into his grandpa era with legendary flair. The news broke after Eddie Murphy confirmed that his son, Eric Murphy, and Lawrence's daughter, Jasmin Lawrence, recently welcomed a baby girl named Ari Skye.

During a stop on his comedy tour, Lawrence couldn't contain his excitement, declaring to the audience, "I'm a grandpa! Me and Eddie Murphy share a grandchild!" He humorously added, "That baby is going to be funny as s--t," nodding to the comedic lineage on both sides of the family.

Friend and fellow comedian Loni Love captured the moment on Instagram, writing, "Last week we got the news on the road that @jasmin_lawrence and @ericmurphy777 had the boo boo! Martin was beyond thrilled, and we all felt the excitement!"

Eddie Murphy first shared the family news on the red carpet at the American Film Institute achievement award ceremony on April 18, where he was honored with the Life Achievement Award. "They just had a baby girl," Murphy told E! News. "They just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago. Yeah, Ari Skye."

When asked if he had any parenting advice for the new parents, who married in 2025, Murphy offered a characteristically wise perspective. "Oh, you don't give advice like that," he shared. "You know, your kids don't go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you."

He quipped, "The stuff you be saying, they don't even pay that s--t no mind. They watch and see what you do. So, I don't give a lot of advice."

This blended family moment highlights the supportive dynamic between the two comedy icons. Lawrence previously spoke about their shared approach to their children's relationship during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show last May.

"We are both protective," Lawrence said. "We want the best for our children. We let them do their own thing and make their choices and stay out of their business and let them find their way."

The arrival of Ari Skye marks a joyful new chapter, uniting two of Hollywood's most beloved comedic families.
