If you're exploring Tenebrous Isle in Mina the Hollower, catching every fish is a must for completionists. Here's everything you need to know to unlock the fishing rod, master the fishing mechanic, and find all 16 fish.
How to Unlock Fishing
Fishing becomes available in the Backwaters area, southwest of Ossex on the road to Nox's Bayou. Head one screen down from where you find Buffo the jug frog, and you'll see a sign advertising the fishing hole. You can burrow-jump under the water to reach the other side if you have the Steady Soles trinket; otherwise, use moving platforms and spend one kear to unlock the path.
Speak with the fisherfolk to trigger a scripted event that gives you the fishing rod.
How to Fish
The fishing rod is a sidearm that costs two joules to use. Press the sidearm button to cast, again to drop the lure, and again to reel in. While the lure is in the water, move it to touch a fish shadow. Mina reels in automatically after contact or after a few seconds with no bites.
Not every catch is a fish—you might reel in roses (health), tulips (plasma), a plasma vial, or a bomb. Once you hook something, pull it toward yourself; if you're over deep water, it may fall back in. After landing the catch, attack it like any enemy to obtain its trophy.

Each region has at least one unique fish, which can be caught in any body of water in that region. Collect all 16 and speak to Durwin at the fishing hole to receive the Gilded Rod (longer casts) and the "Fishin' Reactor" achievement.
