Covert Camera Uncovered in London Government Complex

A hidden camera has been discovered in a communal area of a government building in Westminster, sparking security concerns. The device was found behind a ceiling panel within the last two months in the Marsham Street complex, which houses both the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and the Home Office.

According to a report by the i newspaper, the camera was located in a section used by MHCLG, away from ministerial offices. Security services have been notified. An MHCLG spokesperson declined to comment, stating, "We do not comment on security matters."

The discovery has prompted political outcry. Shadow Cabinet Office Minister Alex Burghart called the incident "serious" and demanded an urgent investigation. "The public deserves answers," he said, questioning who placed the device, how long it had been there, and whether sensitive information was compromised.

The Home Office and the Prime Minister's office also declined to comment, referring inquiries to MHCLG.

The building serves as headquarters for the Home Office, responsible for national security and policing, and MHCLG, which oversees housing and planning policy.
