The parents of singer D4vd were not surprised by his recent arrest on suspicion of murder, according to their attorney, and they plan to travel to Los Angeles to support him.
Kent Schaffer, the Texas-based lawyer representing Dawud and Colleen Burke, revealed that while D4vd's parents are "obviously, upset and sad for their son," they had anticipated the possibility of his arrest. The Los Angeles Police Department has reportedly considered the singer a suspect in the death of Celeste Rivas for several months.
"The Burkes are planning to fly out to L.A. to be there for their son," Schaffer stated, adding that he believes the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office will likely charge D4vd with Rivas' murder.
The arrest occurred Thursday evening when a heavily armed police unit took D4vd into custody at a Hollywood Hills residence. He was booked into jail just after 10 PM and is being held without bail.
This development comes more than seven months after Rivas' body was discovered in the trunk of D4vd's Tesla. A grand jury began hearing testimony in connection with the case back in November, while D4vd remained free.
Schaffer noted that the Burkes had not spoken with their son immediately after his arrest, though it was unclear if they had connected with him on Friday.
