Hot on the heels of the UFC Freedom 250 extravaganza at the White House, UConn men's basketball coach Dan Hurley is already dreaming of the next big sporting event at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue: a college basketball game between the Huskies and Duke.
In an exclusive interview with TMZ DC, Hurley expressed enthusiasm for the idea of bringing hoops to the South Lawn, following the success of the UFC fights held there in celebration of America's anniversary.
"That would be good, man," Hurley said. "I think UConn should definitely be in it. Maybe UConn vs. Duke!"
While the notion might have seemed far-fetched a year ago, the seamless execution of the MMA event has opened the door to more unconventional sports programming at the White House. With the nation's 251st birthday on the horizon, Hurley hopes his Huskies will be tipping off against the Blue Devils in a historic matchup.
Hurley also weighed in on the recent NBA Finals, offering his take on whether the New York Knicks truly earned the championship or if the San Antonio Spurs simply blew their opportunity — and his response is sure to turn heads.
