Dan Levy Rules Out Schitt's Creek Revival After Catherine O'Hara's Passing

Dan Levy has emotionally closed the door on a potential Schitt's Creek sequel, revealing he had considered the idea before the death of his co-star and on-screen mother, Catherine O'Hara.

In a tearful interview on CBS News Sunday Morning, the 42-year-old actor and co-creator of the beloved sitcom stated unequivocally that continuing the story of the Rose family is no longer an option. "No," he said. "Not now. You can't."

Levy explained that a recent visit to the Ontario community where the show was filmed triggered a powerful emotional response he hadn't anticipated. "It's tough. It's tough being back," he shared. "I didn't think that I'd have quite an emotional reaction."

He attributed his tears to the flood of memories, specifically those involving O'Hara, who played the iconic Moira Rose. "Just a lot of memories," he explained, "memories with Catherine."

"It's what you have to hold onto is the memories of it all."

Levy added a touch of his signature humor, noting, "and an incredible clip reel. Listen, for someone who was not on the internet, she knew how to meme."

O'Hara passed away in January at age 71. Following her death, Levy paid tribute on Instagram, calling her a "gift" and highlighting their deep, familial bond that predated the show.

"What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O'Hara's brilliance for all those years," he wrote. "Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It's hard to imagine a world without her in it."

With this heartfelt admission, Levy makes it clear that for him, Schitt's Creek cannot exist without the brilliant presence of Catherine O'Hara, leaving fans to cherish the original series and the memories it created.
