Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has shared an awkward encounter with the late David Bowie, admitting he unintentionally insulted the music icon.
During an appearance on the podcast Dish with Nick Grimshaw and chef Angela Hartnett, Grohl recalled a studio meeting with Bowie roughly 25 years ago. He had just seen Bowie perform at a festival and was in awe.
"I was standing in the photo pit, and he was right there. It was like a religious experience," Grohl said. When he later met Bowie in the studio, the legendary artist asked what he thought of the show. Grohl panicked.
"The first thing to come out of my mouth, like an idiot, was, 'Well, the first thing I noticed was all of your imperfections.' I backpedalled so fast," Grohl recounted.
Despite the gaffe, Grohl described seeing Bowie perform as "otherworldly" and an experience that felt like witnessing an angel.
