DBM Releases Most of 2026 Budget, Leaving P1.26 Trillion for Last Eight Months

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has disbursed the majority of the Philippines' 2026 national budget, leaving a balance of P1.26 trillion to be spent over the remaining eight months of the fiscal year. The early release aims to accelerate government spending and support economic growth.

According to the DBM, the bulk of the budget has already been allocated to priority programs and infrastructure projects, ensuring that funds reach implementing agencies promptly. The remaining balance will be utilized for ongoing and new initiatives in the latter part of the year.

Budget officials emphasized that the disbursement strategy is designed to prevent underspending, a recurring issue in previous years. By frontloading releases, the government expects to boost public services and stimulate economic activity.

The DBM continues to monitor fund utilization to ensure efficiency and transparency across all agencies.
