MANILA, Philippines — Advertising giant DDB Group Philippines has officially rebranded as GGC Group Asia, signaling a new era as an independent creative force in the region.
The move comes in response to Omnicom Group's plan to phase out the DDB brand globally by mid-2026, following its acquisition of Interpublic Group.
Originally established in 1992 through a partnership between DDB Worldwide and Filipino-owned Advertising Marketing and Associates (AMA), DDB Group Philippines served as the network's local arm for over three decades. Under its new identity, GGC Group Asia will continue collaborating with Omnicom as needed, ensuring clients retain access to global marketing resources.
Legacy and Bold New Beginning
Chairman and CEO Gil G. Chua expressed gratitude for the decades-long partnership with DDB Worldwide while embracing the change.
"GGC Group Asia moves forward with deep gratitude for our long-standing partnership with Omnicom and DDB Worldwide," Chua said.
He emphasized that the rebrand reflects the group's evolution into an independent organization, while maintaining its dedication to creativity, client service, and shared growth.
"This rebrand is more than a change in name — it is a proud affirmation of the legacy, leadership, and vision that have guided our businesses through the years," Chua added.
Portfolio Transformation and Expansion
As part of the transition, several subsidiaries have been renamed: DDB Philippines becomes Velocity+, DDB MNL is now Alab MNL, and Tribal Worldwide Philippines is rebranded as The Tribe. Other companies—including Optimax Communications, Agile Intelligence, Ripple8, Touch XDA, and Bent and Buzz—will keep their existing brands.
GGC Group Asia has also integrated sister firms from the FCT Group, such as FOSA, Caishen, Track Mnl, Xpress Move, Strawberry Jam, and PhilMovers. The expanded group now comprises 14 companies across 18 offices nationwide, employing over 7,500 people.
This integration broadens the group's capabilities beyond advertising and public relations to include logistics, business solutions, and marketing support services, strengthening its footprint in the Philippines and across Asia.
No Disruption to Operations
The rebrand will not affect leadership, workforce, client relationships, or day-to-day operations. All contracts and service agreements remain in force.
"While our name evolves, our commitment to creativity, effectiveness, and strong client partnerships remains unwavering," Chua said.
A Track Record of Excellence
Before the rebrand, DDB Group Philippines built an impressive legacy of award-winning campaigns, including the Philippines' first Cannes Lions Grand Prix and first AME Awards Gold in 2013, the country's only Gold award at Spikes Asia 2025, and multiple Agency of the Year honors. The group has also been recognized for workplace excellence by Campaign Asia-Pacific, HR Asia, Great Place To Work, and BusinessWorld's Best Places to Work Awards.
GGC Group Asia intends to build on this legacy as it enters its next phase of growth.
